Jordanian camel

← View Portfolio

This camel portrait was produced while on a painting holiday in Devon.  The painting trip was dependent on the weather which unfortunately was very intermittent.   Due to the limitations of the studio I used a photograph supplied by a friend on the trip who had visited Jordan, having met this most handsome camel.

I used 140lb rough watercolour paper and achieved the effects by sprinkling rock salt onto intense washes of watercolour.  Final details were added using gouache directly from the tube which was applied with a fine brush.
