This was a personal project produced in oil on canvas.  The inspiration was taken from a photograph that my brother took at the zoo, he then changed the background from a caged lion to one in the wilds, by using an image editor.  The portrait was built up starting with overlays of brush work, finally building up to textured palette knife work.

This portrait was sold at the Southend Art Club’s Autumn 2010 exhibition held at the Cliffs Pavilion in Southend-on-Sea.  The painting was awarded with ‘The Thompson Cup’ for the Best in Show.
